Not a Octopus Hat

This hat was described as Octopus hat however the seller cannot count as it only has 6 legs, so should really be Hextopus Hat.

Found in the £5 squid bin at the TORM the original reenactors market

The seller apparently thought it was hat they would never sell, been on their stall for a long time.

Basically looks like they cut up a wide-brimmed felt hat for some reason.

To make a hat that fits into no particular bracket.

Not sure what sort of idiot would buy this hat.... wait I did.

Goblin Hat

A hat that is suitable for a Goblin.

This hat has been part of the groups LRP kit since well before I joined the group

Part knitted, part fabric, part leather, part hessian, part fur, partly embroidered, roughly stitched together, and well tatty this mix-up looks very homemade.

Highly suitable for some beggar, ancient tribal type, witch doctor, goblin or similar that is trying to stand out.

This is hat is a very popular part of the crew kit

Brown Felt Hat

This hat is the same hat as in my post one hat many styles but in brown not black.

The basic felt hat from Primark cost  £2 in their sale.

In this light drab brown it seems less elegant so more suitable for practical everyday use, perhaps a sun hat for a farmer

I'm seeing a grizzly, grumpy old man wearing it, hence to photos, but make your own look.

Time for a bit of gurning.

Not sure I would win a gurning competition, I think you need to lose all your teeth first.

Below what happens when the brown felt hat gets wet.

Hessian Hat

This hat is made of hessian and was purchased from a trader at Chatsworth Country Fair whose key feature was everything hessian.

This is one of those hats that although outwardly rough-looking is actually a quality well-made product and a comfortable hat to wear.

The hat is properly lined with a fabric that is more comfortable against the skin.

The edge of the hat has been frayed, although the fraying as been stitched, secured and tidied so it will remain stable and secure.

The hat brim has a wire running around it which you can use to shape it, such as turning up the brim cowboy hat style like in the photo below.

I can see this hat being worn as a comfortable casual summer hat or used to theme a yokel costume.

Good cooling summer wear, although not waterproof at all.

Village Yokel

A simple felt hat, misused and abused makes a idea hat for anyone that is not wanting a fashion statement.

Ideal for playing characters such as farmers, peasants or the village yokel.

If you want to look a little (very little) smarter turn the brim up

One Hat Many Styles

From a basic wide brimmed felt hat you can change its look into many other styles.

The photos below are all the same £5 felt hats from Primark, all created with quick stitch, you can cut and decorate to make many more better looks.

Below the basic black felt hat as you buy it.

Below a Bicorn

Below a Tricorn

Below almost a Quadricorn, it needed a wider brim really, but 4 points were almost achieved.

PS these were all purchased for £1 at the end of the season by my friend Dave who the master of spotting a bargain.

I Got a Hankering for Some Moonshine

Does this hat belong to a back woods cannibal from the deep south of US with shotgun in back of their pick-up truck parked outside a trailer home or do I watch too much american TV and cannibals are not real :)

A typical hunters cap made of a fleecy material, this one in camouflage pattern. Similar baseball cap in design this hat has a extra section the back of the head offering bit more warmth, but no ear flaps.

A army surplus store purchase.

Some Hats Lower Your IQ

Some Hats Lower Your IQ and this hat made of hessian is one that does that.

A theatre prop picked up from Chows Emporium
Its basically a cone hessian, with bit of hessian decoration dyed green.

Theatrical Hat = Hats made for use in plays and shows,
often more dramatic or bigger than the real thing.
