Brown Felt Hat 2

A brown felt wide-brimmed hat with the brim sewn up to the crown on 2 sides

I've posted this hats twin previously here both came from a batch of hats which were being sold £2

With the look of this hat and the padded jack, I'm wearing I'm sure it belongs to a medieval cannon crew

Worn at an odd angle for the photos not sure why

Australian Bush Hat

Australian Bush Hat, that's what it says on the label

This hat is made of leather with a wide brim to protect the wearer from the sun and rain.

The leather is a bit mouldy but will easily polish out, whoever owned it last must have put it away damp.

Around the crown is plaited leather band, its got a cowboy hat feeling and is probably a style used by Australian cattle ranchers.

The crown is creased telescope style from the way its made

Like most bush hats it's vented in the side

Leather Wide Brimmed Hat

A soft leather wide-brimmed hat.

Too tall to be a boater and not quite a top hat in falls between to two.

There is no stiffening or hardening of the leather, this adds to the comfort and softens the shape..

Red Decorated Sombrero

The Sombrero the traditional hat of Mexico

A Sombrero in Mexico is any wide-brimmed hat, although for most people outside the region it is also a hat with its brim upturned along its edge.

Its main function is the protection of the head and shoulders from the Sun.

Some like this one can end up highly decorated and are used by Mariachi folk music performers.

This I believe is a full Sombrero but in Mexico there are many types with names suchas Quinciano, Diechinueve, Veintiuno, Veintisiete, Traditional sombrero or modern sombrero.

Hippy Wizards Hat

This Wizards or Witches hat is definitely one for the festival market.

Handmade from hemp and cotton and with a rainbow pattern around the brim and base of the crown

The hat has a wired brim to hold its shape.

Definitely a comfortable hat to wear, you could easily wear all day or just fold it up and stuff in a bag.

Also a good summer hat, the loose-knit provides plenty of ventilation.

Apparently handmade in Napal.

Ankh-Morpork Hat

This hat makes me think of characters from Terry Pratchett's Discworld novels

A fantasy wizards hat I found at a Harry Potter fair in my village

Made of some sort of thick cotton or wool fabric shaped over a former of some sort, but not felted.

The hats online blurb says women wizard hat, but I don't really understand why, it certainly fits and suits me.

Nice wide foldable brim, with a nice little kink in the point of the crown, gives this cheap hat a great look

Now off to practise my spell casting.

Capotain

The Capotain (Copotain/Capatain) is tall wide-brimmed hat worn during the late 16th and 17th centuries

The hat is associated with Puritans and English Civil War

The hat is also with Pilgrim that settled in the Plymouth colony America in 1620, hence its often also called a Pilgrims Hat

The hat is also worn by witchfinders and had a buckle on the front of the crown, but both of these are images created in 19th Century fiction probably untrue.

Cordoba

This Spanish Cordoba is a cheap tourist quality hat and does not represent the real thing very well. the real hats don't have tassels around the brim.

The Cordova Hat is basically wide flat-brimmed hat with the flat crown about 10 cm tall

The hat originated in Còrdoba Spain and the traditional colour is black.

Wide-brimmed hats make sense in sunny countries as they help provide shade

The hat was seen in painting from the 17th Century so dates back at least that far.

These hats are mostly nowadays worn by flamenco dancers, tourists and Zorro.

Floppy Felt Hat

This is a felt hat with an oversized brim.

Not really much more I can say about it.

I folded the front of the brim up to give the brim some support via the crease.

Uses

Useful to protect your shoulders from the sun.

You could fold the brim upfront and back so it meets in the middle forming a nice bicorne.

or fold in 3 making a an oversize tricorne.
