Hat from Siam

This particular hat was from a set of theatrical hats being sold on eBay from a production of the King and I

There is no label in the hat so it could be a courtier or one of the Kings children.

I think it makes an excellent oriental courtiers hat.

Play Hat

This not a play hat but a hat from a play, was used for a production of the King and I

Homemade from a cardboard tube, covered in shiny fabric and sequins.

Held on to the head with an elastic chin strap since the diameter is too small for and adult.

Came as part of job lot of hats but I think this is one only suitable for the bin, not worth saving for anything.

Less Distressed Cap

This baseball cap is a lot less distressed than the last one

This hat was sprayed with carpet glue and then rolled around in anything that might stick to it.

Looking at it now, it needs a lot more work, it still looks like a new hat that's got a bit mucky

White spray paint to seams and edges places that might wear and fade and then some sanding I think.

Distressed Baseball Cap

This is basic blue baseball cap purchased for £3 pounds

I then distressed to make it look well used for a post-apocalypse environment

Now there are lots of online videos teaching you how to distress items, from dragging behind cars to burying in the mud for 6 months.

But the easiest and quickest way is a mixture of spray paint and coarse sandpaper.

and then just rub in the dirt, possible while the paint is still wet.

Unexpected Hat Haul

Earlier in the week, I bid on a pile of hats, a made a rock bottom bid not expecting to win, although among the 11 hats I had spotted 4 hats that looked worth having.

Anyway, I won.

When I received the parcel, I found really only 2 were worth the bid (hidden at the bottom of this pile), a couple more may find a use, overall worth the low bid, but glad I did not bid more.

One I photographed but was only worthy of the bin, the green one above.

Those in the photo above are from a King and I theatre production, I'm not sure yet what to do with, some need a bit of TLC, I will photograph them before they go or use comes to mind

Star Wars Cap

This hat is designed to look like a Star Wars Imperial officers cap.

Described as a police officers cap possible to get around copyright or maybe star wars stole the caps from the police service that use them.

Imperial officers of the Galactic Republic were the cannon fodder of Darth Vader, they only lasted a short while before being demoted by light sabre or other deadly means.

I don't have an Imperial officers uniform to go with it so I'm just wearing an oriental jacket with a high collar which is about as close as I can get.

The hat was cheap and one size fits all, so a size too big for my head.

Gold Fascinator

This hat was described as a Theatrical, Wedding, Gold, Empress Style. Medieval Reenactment Hat, Fascinator.

Fascinators usually are something associated with women's headwear rather than men's and are basically a hat that covers only a small portion of the top of the head and purely ornamental in function.

While possible designed for a woman, I can see easily being worn by a man

This fascinator is made of lightweight wire gauze, with trimming

It could be used for an Arabian or East Asian Princess or Prince

Aladdin Headgear

So this hat was described as Aladdin or Genie Theatrical Fancy Dress Hat, I think that's about right.

Although it also for me feels like it would suit Indian cultural headwear as well

Made by covering a foam sponge substructure in fabrics and beads, it feels light as a feather.

A good fancy dress hat, however, I don't think very tough so not sure how good it will be where it will be worn multiple time such in theatrical use.
