Börk hat

Börk is a type of Turkish man's cap or headdress

Shaped similar to a beanie hat or acorn hat it's usually made of several sections sewn together

Traditionally made of animal hide, leather fur

Börk was traditionally worn by Turkmen tribes living in Iran and Anatolia, Seljuk, and also Ottoman armies.

Fake Fur Beanie

 This is a faux fur-trimmed knitted beanie.

With a very wide band of fur the hat is also lined with fleece, this makes it an excellent hat for cold winter weather or since it's snowing again, today's lovely spring weather.

It includes fake fur pompom dangly things which hang from strips of leather, these are purely decorative and serve no purpose other than to entertain cats.

The hat was purchased from my favourite trader Chows Emporium, I recommend all her products, never been let down by quality or service.

I think the pompoms match my beard.

Too Small for Me

 This coonskin hat is too small for my head. 

If I pull really hard the brim will stretch on but within a few minutes it contracts and springs up leaving it precariously balanced.

Not my hat but part of our crew kit, never seen anyone wear it, so might be something to pass on to a worthy smaller head.

I'm a Viking

This fur-trimmed sheepskin hat is destined for some dark age reenactment.

Used by many a Norseman to keep their heads warm

Made of 6 panels of sheepskin sewed together and then trimmed with some darker artificial fur

This is one of those hats that ended up in crew kit from an unknown source.

Another Fur Rimmed Hat

Following on from my last post here is another fur rimmed hat.

Not quite as furry as the last one, this one as a strip of artificial fur sewn onto a basic woollen beanie style cap

Norseman

This is a nice warm fur-trimmed hat 

It is not quite a full fur hat even though the fur trim forms most of the hat.

Fur-trimmed around a leather skull cap.

I have called it a Norse mans hat but this hat could have been made for any cold climate area.

Goblin Hat

A hat that is suitable for a Goblin.

This hat has been part of the groups LRP kit since well before I joined the group

Part knitted, part fabric, part leather, part hessian, part fur, partly embroidered, roughly stitched together, and well tatty this mix-up looks very homemade.

Highly suitable for some beggar, ancient tribal type, witch doctor, goblin or similar that is trying to stand out. 

This is hat is a very popular part of the crew kit

Cossack Hat

This is a Russian army cossack hat

Made from sheepskin, this tall cylinder of fur is joined at the top with a fabric circle emblem.

This hat is also known as a Papakha in Russia however there are two different styles of Papakha, this one is the Papaha, the other is the Kubanka which is a shorter version, but basically the same.

The Cossacks were an independent nation which got integrated into the Russian nation, not in a good way, so the Cossack army fought against Russia, for Russia, played both sides, helped and hindered the Germans WWII, helped and hindered the Americans in WWII, helped the British fight communism and much more.

The Cossack Army ceased to exist after World war II, however, a law was passed just before the end of 20th Century as the Soviet Union ended allowing Cossack to exist again and they now deal with local Administration. 

They still wear this style of hat 

False Fur

This fake fur trapper hat would no doubt keep your head warm in a blizzard. 

 Not being real fur helps with comfort although probably not by much, I suppose being fake it's more flexible and soft on the inside than a real fur hat.

A real fur trapper hat made from the pelt of the North American/Canadian hunters prey would probably look more like a coonskin hat.  

Fur Beret

This is basically a fur beret picked up from a charity shop, probably ladies hat originally but no labels will never know for sure, but it works for me.

A very comfortable hat, the brim has a wide slightly elastic band which makes it an easy fit.

Following a classic beret shape where the soft fabric overhangs the brim and lies almost flat on the head. 

The fabric is not fabric in this case but animal skin and the hat as no lining just leather of the animal skin stitched to form the shape, with its fur on the outside. The brim itself is made from a wide strip of elasticated jersey like fabric which remains hidden from view as it clings to the head.

Coonskin Cap

The coonskin cap was originally worn by native Americans but were adopted by some European colonists as hunting hats 

The hat is associated mainly due to film and folklore with Davy Crockett and Daniel Boone, although according to Wikipedia the font of all knowledge Daniel Boone never wore a coonskin hat.

A real coonskin hat is made from the whole skin from raccoon, tail and all stretched over the head.

This reproduction was a gift from my mother when she visited Texas this Autumn, the label says Dan'l Boone Coonskin cap.
