Hat Gone Wrong

Spot the problem the corded knot around the base of crown is normally on the side occasional on the front.

At first, I thought I must have worn it wrong and so went back to check and the knot is at the back of the hat. Perhaps a manufacturing error or particular regional quirk, it still looks OK, hats certainly don't follow any hard and fast rules.

This hat is also a bit more Fedora than Tyrolean hat the brim is the same width all around and not rolled up at rear or tyrolean hats also have a bit lower slightly more rounded crown.

Tyrolean Hat

This is a wool felt Tyrolean Hat

I have posted information about this style of hat before, so won't go over it again other than to say the name Tyrolean hat comes from Tyrol a region in Austria

Can also be known as a Sepplhut
Although Sepplhut can also be taller, pointier and have wider brims, the distinctive feature of Sepplhut seems to be wool felting and the cord around the base of the crown

A Christmas gift

My Yodelling Hat

Tyrolean Hat is a hat worn in the Alps of Austria, Italy, Switzerland etc. Also known as a Alpine Hat or Bavarian Hat

For that reason I'm Yodelling in the photo below.

The Tyrolean is almost always green, made of felt, small brim and decorated with a ring of cord and a spray feathers or flowers.

This hat was a gift from Dan a friend in my Larp group.

For some reason this hat inspired a clock maker persona.

PS I don't own any leather breeches (lederhosen) to go with this hat and create the full traditional costume look.
