Black Hat

This black hat is a chaotic mess of fabric loosely sewn together to form a turban-like headpiece.

This is one of those hats I struggle to categorise, found unloved in a sales box at a kit fair.

I think maybe ladies hat.

The hat also feels like something somebody might wear to a funeral.

Jagged Turban

This theatrical turban has bits and loose ends all over the place it looks like it going to fall apart but its all sewn together.

Made from white cotton

The turban has lots of loose end to throw around your neck

Muffin Bonnet

This very bright magenta coloured hat is constructed like a muffin cap with a lot of access fabric fixed to a headband.

There is so much extra fabric however that the headband is hidden, plus it all crinkly and uneven so I can't really call it a muffin cap.

It kinda looks like a turban, also like a women slouchy baggy beanie, but it is none of those either

Maybe I could call it a Muffin bonnet.

But really this hat goes in the as yet uncategorised pile.

Worn with some equally bright colours to make it not look too ridiculous

Aladdin Headgear

So this hat was described as Aladdin or Genie Theatrical Fancy Dress Hat, I think that's about right.

Although it also for me feels like it would suit Indian cultural headwear as well

Made by covering a foam sponge substructure in fabrics and beads, it feels light as a feather.

A good fancy dress hat, however, I don't think very tough so not sure how good it will be where it will be worn multiple time such in theatrical use.

Chapo-turban

This chaperone from a set of medieval theatre hats is more Arabian Nights than medieval.

The fabrics that have been chosen along with the beads and sequins totally change the look of this headgear.

It now needs to be used for a character out of the stories of the Arabian Nights.

What's left of the fabric hangs down the back of the neck and is covered in sequins.

Fortunately or unfortunately depending on your point of view, there was no genie in the lamp.

Turbanator

This is another ex-theatre prop I found it is a turban but as been sewn together to keep its shape, so its what I call a mock turban since you wear it like a hat rather than wrapping around your head.

Theatre Turban Hat

This headdress is from a theatre production and built crudely around a cardboard fez.

Trying to mimic a Asian turban, in a way that is quick to put on, it doesn't do real turbans any justice but ideal to convey a quick costume theme.

I would like to say its over the top, but just type in images of mysori turbans to see great real turbans or rajasthani turbans if you want big and colourful.

Another find at Chows Emporium.

I started this blog when I was much heavier and really noticed the difference in the older photos to now.

Turban Hat

This is what I'm calling a turban hat since its not piece of cloth wrapped around your head to make a turban, its formed ready to wear shaped hat, made to look turban like.

Made as a piece of theatre costume, I found this at Chow's Emperium while rummaging one day on her stall.

Formed around a plastic skull cap with various fabric off-cuts and then decorated beads and feathers, getting a bit battered, but still good.

This hat is great for transporting you into some Arabian tale, such as Sinbad, Aladdin, Ally Baba and the forty thieves.
