Retro Style Helmet

This a motorbikers helmet or perhaps horse riding helmet, maybe both, could not say for sure as it came to me free

The 2 tone leather with white stitching gives a retro styling, particularly if it's intended as a motorbiker helm.

It would look good with a pair of goggles to finish the look.

I have a similarly finished hat, but that was more military styling and not well made enough to be proper protection.

Australian Bush Hat

Australian Bush Hat, that's what it says on the label

This hat is made of leather with a wide brim to protect the wearer from the sun and rain.

The leather is a bit mouldy but will easily polish out, whoever owned it last must have put it away damp.

Around the crown is plaited leather band, its got a cowboy hat feeling and is probably a style used by Australian cattle ranchers.

The crown is creased telescope style from the way its made

Like most bush hats it's vented in the side

Leather Wide Brimmed Hat

A soft leather wide-brimmed hat.

Too tall to be a boater and not quite a top hat in falls between to two.

There is no stiffening or hardening of the leather, this adds to the comfort and softens the shape..

Leather Goblin Hat

A leather skull cap with a tail

This is an odd cap I spotted at a market, it's made of leather with a long section at the rear reminiscent of a nightcap in some ways.

The crude look of the stitching makes me think of something a goblin might wear in a fantasy image.

Another possibility might be a librarians cap or perhaps somewhere to took your long hair

I'm please with this find and hope to find a character or multiple characters to wear it.

Leather Newsboy Hat

This newsboy style cap was a gift from a group of friends as recognition of the work I was putting into getting things up and running.

The gift was a total surprise really gave me a boost when I needed it.

The hat was made by Jeff see his website here.

The hat was made from a great looking piece of leather, it is basically a slightly exaggerated newsboy style cap.

Also could be called a Rasta cap, the extra volume in the crown is ideal for dreadlocks.

Leather Tricorn

This leather tricorn was a Christmas gift from friends Rich & Amy, but due to the crazy covid 2020, I've not had a chance to use it yet.

This is one of those quality hats, solid and robust that I try to avoid buying myself, any hat that cost me more £25 new or second hand I rarely buy, so this was a brilliant gift that I hope gets plenty of use.

Most 18th century tricorns were probably made of wool felt, but for the less gentlemanly person leather was a good substitute and would make a more practical hat, especially for a pirate.

This particular hat is quite heavy for fashion hat, the leather is thick, it would make a good safety hat or helmet which is no bad thing.

I can't wait to use this hat, role on next year and normality at some point.

Leather Kepi

This black leather Kepi was donated.

Leather is not a material usually associated with Kepi's at least ones wanting to be historically accurate, this one, however, was purchased by Larper so the need to authentic was not as important as the look it provided.

Not a very British hat, although they were worn by male uniformed British Rail workers in 1960 to 70;s perhaps we envied French rail at the time.

Kepi history and facts have been covered in my blog previously, so I won't add any more today other than what's above.

A robust functional leather version of a Kepi.
