Camo Ushanka

This camo pattern ushanka is probably a perfect hunting hat, however never been hunting so could be worst hunting hat ever for all I know.

Also for some reason the double ear flaps I find make this hat a little comical, but they may have a purpose, perhaps to protect the ears for the noise of the gun or just extra ear warmth.

Ear flaps up and away

False Fur

This fake fur trapper hat would no doubt keep your head warm in a blizzard.

Not being real fur helps with comfort although probably not by much, I suppose being fake it's more flexible and soft on the inside than a real fur hat.

A real fur trapper hat made from the pelt of the North American/Canadian hunters prey would probably look more like a coonskin hat.

Sheepskin Hat

This trapper style hat is made of sheepskin, ideal to keep your head warm on a cold windy day

I've talked about trapper hats before and so don't have a lot more to say, so just follow the labels for trapper hat.

The ear flaps tie up.

Ushanka

Ushanka comes from a Russian word meaning ears.

This fur-lined cap comes with fold-down ear flaps that can be tied up to the crown of the cap, or fastened under the chin to protect the ears lower face from the cold.

The Ushanka cap or hat is winter wear worn any from the USA to Russia but is very popular with Soviet naval officers

Traditionally made from rabbit or sheepskin and used in all sorts of extreme cold climates

This could also be called a trapper hat, but a trapper hat is not necessarily fur lined or designed for extreme cold.

This hat is a tourist variety with cheap soviet style badge and artificial fur but is still a practical hat that not just novelty wear.

Trapper Cap

This waxed cotton trapper hat is perfect for when I go hunting for lost socks

Fur lined it helps protect me from the dusty locations hidden socks lurk waiting to jump out at you.

Being black is also excellent camouflage for the dark corners of the sock draw.

You can also wear it with ear flaps down so you cannot be distracted by other noisy clothing.

You can even wear this cap outdoors in the cold and rain.

Serious Russian

This trapper style hat did start its life with a hammer and sickle badge on the front and was advertised as a Russian Army Style Winter Hat, which is what it is.

Made of fake fur which covers the outer surface, its built around a trapper style hat design with ear flaps and ties for under the chin, that are ideal for what I imagine Russian winters are like

This Russian can be fun.

Perhaps he can't ear well with flaps down.

But is quickly serious again in to keep up his appearance.

Bird Beak

This bycocket is made of lightweight felt and not stiff so folds flat.

The word Bycocket comes from the French word bec cocquet which means birds beak or cock's beak

Sherlock Holmes Left His Hat Behind

The deerstalker through its association with Sherlock Holmes has become stereotypical headgear for early detectives.

Its a hat is also still used in rural areas of Britain but dates from the Victorian era when you wore correct fashion to do your deer hunting.

The deerstalker was possibly first associated with the character of Sherlock Holmes in a 1899 play, but it was a book cover illustration that probably cemented the two together. Although it may have been several Basil Rathbones films that final pegged them permanently together.

Made of usually of tweed with its distinctive fore and aft brims and ear flaps that are usually seen tied up at the top of the hat rather than over the ears and tied under the chin.

I Got a Hankering for Some Moonshine

Does this hat belong to a back woods cannibal from the deep south of US with shotgun in back of their pick-up truck parked outside a trailer home or do I watch too much american TV and cannibals are not real :)

A typical hunters cap made of a fleecy material, this one in camouflage pattern. Similar baseball cap in design this hat has a extra section the back of the head offering bit more warmth, but no ear flaps.

A army surplus store purchase.

Oops I bought a new hat

So I was walking around a charity shop looking for a old leather coat to cut up when I spotted a hat, so over the last 2 weekends of not looking for a hat we have leather coats found 0, hats found 2.

This cap is suede with a artificial fur lining. I would call it a hunting cap
