Religious Hat

I think this is crocheted hat, but as I'm neither a knitter or crocheter, I'm probably wrong. 

The hat is not very stretchy but still fits well and is very comfortable to wear, the sort of hat you could wear all day without noticing.

Not following a particular religion this is therefore not something I would wear socially, so for Larp use only.

The cross crosslet in the design of the hat is not associated with any particular Christian religion, at least as far as I can tell, its more associated with the spreading of Christianity, i.e. its also called the missionary cross.

The hat has 2 little toggles hanging from the centre button, if anyone knows what they are called I would love to know.

Hat Mimic

This was found stuffed in the belt of my costume. 

It's about 10cm tall.

About 8 of these crochets bunnies were sneakily passed to their counterparts, mine instantly identifiable by its hat.

Julie Made This

This hat was crocheted as a Christmas gift by a good friend.

On her blog it looks decidedly more pointy but it was fresh of the hooks when those photos where taken.

In the photo I'm also wearing a cowl Julie made, which get worn quite often during the winter weather, cowls work for me like a scarf you won't loose to keep your neck warm.

Nightcap

This Nightcap was made as a Birthday present by my good friend Julie back in 2009 you can see her blog about it here. 

Nightcaps are basically beanie hats designed to keep you head warm in bed back in the days before central heating, also to reduce the spread of head lice after your wig was removed.  

Nightcaps are said to be more commonly worn as people as got older probably because they are more likely to be bald or perhaps its because older people kept the fashion going as wearing nightcaps died out in the 1800's so its associated with older people your guess is as good as mine on that front.

Nightcaps where first reported has being worn in northern Europe in the middle ages and fashionable for all people from the mid 15th to late 19th Century.

Also known as a Sleeping Cap.
