Another of the theatrical hats, this time a Tudor cow pat hat

No doubt an outcast from some Shakespearean production company.

A good all-round merchant to a noble hat to go with your Tudor costume

Red Chaperon

This Chaperon is part of the job lot of 6 theatrical hats I purchased.

Being made for theatrical use, aesthetic rather historical accuracy lead the design.

 That said a first glance it fits the bill, just ignore the fabric and way its made.

 The nice long livery pipe, scarf bit if you want attached to the side of the hat is nicely flamboyant.

Good to chew on

Cat in a Hat

Yesterday my cat went to sleep for the last time after providing companionship for 15years, so a couple of photos where she managed to get involved in my hat blog.

Basic Origami Hat

The most basic of all origami hats involves 5 simple folds and makes a kind bicorn like, hat as below

This was made using a sheet of A2 sugar paper, A3 would make a child-sized hat.

The paper needs to be rectangular, not square.

(newspaper works just as easily)

Fold the paper in half (the fold line is across the shorter size)

Position the fold at the top 

Then fold the corners in so they meet in the middle as below

Fold the top layer of bottom edge of the paper up, over the folded corners

Then turn the paper over and fold the remaining edge up

That's it your done you now have a hat.

Goblin Hat

A hat that is suitable for a Goblin.

This hat has been part of the groups LRP kit since well before I joined the group

Part knitted, part fabric, part leather, part hessian, part fur, partly embroidered, roughly stitched together, and well tatty this mix-up looks very homemade.

Highly suitable for some beggar, ancient tribal type, witch doctor, goblin or similar that is trying to stand out. 

This is hat is a very popular part of the crew kit

Religious Hat

I think this is crocheted hat, but as I'm neither a knitter or crocheter, I'm probably wrong. 

The hat is not very stretchy but still fits well and is very comfortable to wear, the sort of hat you could wear all day without noticing.

Not following a particular religion this is therefore not something I would wear socially, so for Larp use only.

The cross crosslet in the design of the hat is not associated with any particular Christian religion, at least as far as I can tell, its more associated with the spreading of Christianity, i.e. its also called the missionary cross.

The hat has 2 little toggles hanging from the centre button, if anyone knows what they are called I would love to know.

Hats for Christmas

I've received 3 hats this year for Christmas (so far)

A marvellous and ridiculous yellow beret with a green stalk from Lorna

A quality heavy leather tricorn from Rich and Amy

A silly Christmas bobble hat with an integrated beard from the Linda, Andy, Katie, Christopher and Belle the cat

Roman Style Helm

This helmet was found in a bring and buy at larp fayre and came with the arming cap in the previous post to this.

The steel helmet reminds me in shape of an ancient Roman helmet, with its plume holder at the top, lacking the plume, perhaps it should have neck and face/ear guard plates as well, but the seller had no idea of its origin and neither do I

 The helmet does come complete with a nose guard and thin leather drape to the back of the neck which would protect against sunburn, but not much else.

I will at some point add a nice feather plume to the top of the helmet if future me finds a use for this.

Overall considering the price and condition a good purchase.
