Aso Oke Hat

An Aso Oke Hat is a Nigerian men's cap.

Also known as a Fila hat.

Mostly worn with traditional attire, this hat has spread in popularity across other parts of Western Africa

The cap is normally worn tilted to one side with the crown folded over but can be worn in a variety of other ways to suit the wearer's style.

The hat folds down flat for storage, similar to some military field caps.

National Hat Day 2022

A Hat Fact

The possibly oldest hat ever found still in one piece was on the body of a bronze-aged man whose body was found frozen in the mountains between Austria and Italy.

Estimated to be from around 3250 BC, so over 5 thousand years old.

The hat was a bearskin cap with a chinstrap made of several hides stitched together.

Wrap Around Hood

This green hood features a unique feature

The long scarf that forms part of the hood.

This feature makes it very versatile to create a couple of different looks, such as wrapping it around the neck and down your back or just down the front.

Originally from chows emporium, no longer on the website, although an upgraded better-looking version is.

Leather Newsboy Hat

This newsboy style cap was a gift from a group of friends as recognition of the work I was putting into getting things up and running.

The gift was a total surprise really gave me a boost when I needed it.

The hat was made by Jeff see his website here.

The hat was made from a great looking piece of leather, it is basically a slightly exaggerated newsboy style cap.

Also could be called a Rasta cap, the extra volume in the crown is ideal for dreadlocks.

Paper Ghandhi Cap

This an extremely easy to make origami hat

Use a piece of A3 paper for child versions (bottom cap of the image below)

For the adult version that fits me, I cut down a piece of A2 to 495mm x 355mm

You can find many tutorials on youtube or elsewhere just search for Paper Gandhi Cap and it will find half a dozen.

Hats for Cats

I should say I don't like dressing up animals, not something I have done before. however, it seems from gifts starting last Christmas some friends do.

Luckily one of my cats does not seem bothered by wearing a hat, at least for the few minutes it takes to take a photo.

The reindeer antlers hat is poorly designed crushing the cat's ears if pulled to the correct position.

The red Santa hat was much better light and mostly sitting between the ears and also coming with a cat scarf

The green knitted was by far the best with holes for my cat's ears it stayed straight and fit the best

My Ginger Tom was not so happy and immediately pulled it off his head

Finally, a hand painted Christmas Card of Cats in Hats from my friend Julie
