This is a nice warm fur-trimmed hat 

It is not quite a full fur hat even though the fur trim forms most of the hat.

Fur-trimmed around a leather skull cap.

I have called it a Norse mans hat but this hat could have been made for any cold climate area.

Tudor Cap

This simple beige cloth pork pie is the universal Tudor cap

Worn by men and women in the Elizabethan era.

Nobles

This hat could be used by an Oriental or European noble or relaxing merchant

Not really sure of the period it belongs to.

This hat ended up in our crew kit, unclaimed it remains there ready for use.

White Skull Cap

This white fabric skull cap has a turn-up band around the rim.

 The cap is almost the same as the docker cap in a previous post but lacks the button on top and adjustable band, this is more of a medieval or religious cap.

 There is one seam front to back, the shape comes from the stretching of the fabric.

In the photo below its shown worn with a coif underneath.

Sequined Cap

This the sequined covered cap, came as part of the same hat haul as the previous post.

This was the leisure cap of some flamboyant magician I'm sure.

Now, what's the difference between this what I call a Smoking cap (Leisure cap) and a Kufi hat, both are colourful pillbox hats of a similar size and shape.

Smoking caps are European, the colour comes from the decoration, embroidery, sequins, tassels applied usually to a rich velvety fabric. 

Kufi caps are African, the colour comes from the highly patterned base fabric rather than a plain decorated base fabric 

and that's the difference in its most basic form, although there are many exceptions to the rule and ones that could fall into both categories

Kufi Cap

This is well-worn Kufi style cap I got as part of a eBay hat bid last year.

This cap has a colourful brim folded up only around 2/3rds of its diameter making it unusual.

I happy to wear it back to front as the above image, it works either way in my opinion.

When I took these photos I did not realise one side of the turn-up brim was distorted, a quick iron or stitch will fix this.

Looking at the hat know I'm wondering what the hat would look like with its folded up section folded down.

Popey McPope Face

This religious looking hat was probably made for a theatre production.

A good prop, made of fabric, rope, gold-coloured thread and adorned with fake gemstones it makes the perfect hat for someone important in religion.

This hat is part of our group's crew kit, so not actually mine, its been around a quite a few years perhaps 20 plus, in the image below one of the crew members, wears it to play a cardinal.  

Hessian Hat

This hat is made of hessian and was purchased from a trader at Chatsworth Country Fair whose key feature was everything hessian.

This is one of those hats that although outwardly rough-looking is actually a quality well-made product and a comfortable hat to wear.

The hat is properly lined with a fabric that is more comfortable against the skin.

The edge of the hat has been frayed, although the fraying as been stitched, secured and tidied so it will remain stable and secure.

The hat brim has a wire running around it which you can use to shape it, such as turning up the brim cowboy hat style like in the photo below.

I can see this hat being worn as a comfortable casual summer hat or used to theme a yokel costume.

Good cooling summer wear, although not waterproof at all.

Goggle Beanie

A beanie with built-in goggles who's crazy idea was that?

This is a traditional cotton ribbed beanie with goggles sandwiched into the brim possibly used by skiers.

I think the idea is more of a fashion thing than of practical use.

Although it does work has a pair of goggles, the beanie brim when folded down holds the goggles in the right place and steady enough to protect the eyes from the bright sunlight. 

That said you end up looking like some cheap superhero called Insect Man.

Brown Muffin Cap

This renaissance beret, muffin cap or whatever you wish to call this style of simple cloth cap.

Like a modern beret it as a brim the circumference of your head to which is fixed an abundance of fabric so overhang and droops over the brim, in the muffin cap this is much more extreme than a modern beret often involving the fabric being pleated onto the brim.

Light Up Hat

This beanie hat has an inbuilt headlight.

The hat itself is basic woollen beanie hat, but in the turnup, there is an LED light.

The headlight is activated by a button in the middle and pops out of the frame for USB charging.

The hat is very convenient no hands needed light for finding things or putting up a tent at night and somewhat less bulky than head lights, the downside is you can't adjust the angle so have dip your head further than a head light. 

The only other downside I see is warm summer use but yet to experience that. 

This light is not going to blind people or bring down planes, but it's bright enough to be very useful.

I got this or these hats (1 Grey and 1 Black one) as a gift from friends for Christmas
