Chinese Novelty Hat

You normally can't beat a chinese novelty hat to create a quick oriental fancy dress look

These are almost throw away cheap, they fit in your pocket and look the part from a distance

This particular hat is however right at the bottom of pile when it comes to novelty hat quality, relying unsuccessfully on thinnest bit of fabric to create a bit of stiffness to brim.

This hat was so cheap you get change from £3 after postage, but you get what you pay for and would not pay much more.

The more I look at the photos of this hat, the more I believe it should go into the bin and never be seen again

Hairhat

This is a third wig, third hat, third headband.

I suppose for the balding gentleman its the ideal hat for imitating an 80s tennis player.

Pointed out to me by a work colleague I just had to have one and they come in several colours so you can match your hair colour, this colour turned out to be a good match.

I think this hat makes me look several days younger and intend to wear it to embarrass myself whenever I can.

Even the cat is not impressed.

Described as wig hat, they come nice and cheap all the way from China

Dancing Pallbearers Hat

This hat or rather the dancing pallbearers that wear it gained fame after BBC news feature

According to Wikipedia the pallbearers who are from Ghana are locally referred to as the 'Nana Otafrija Pallbearing and Waiting Service.

The black hat is a typical foldable military field cap in its shape

I have no idea if this hat has an origin outside its fame as a hat worn by the dancing pallbearers, but I can only find it against cosplay adverts

This hat came to me via a friend who knows I collect hats and was enjoying the pallbearer memes on youtube.

Cheap Chinese Style Hat

This hat is about as cheap as they come and even as a novelty hat not recommended

Mimicking some other watermelon style oriental hats, this is made of some cheap fabric over some thin foam, that both makes it uncomfortable and a poor fit. The shiny fabric is slippery and this makes it readily just fall off your head, no matter how tight you pull it down

I have a similar hat here and although also a novelty hat far more comfortable and better made

Cat in a Hat

A Secret Santa gift turned out to be a Christmas cat hat and collar

As you can see by my cat expression he was not pleased to made to look foolish, cats are too cool for that.

The hat sort of managed to stay on for a few minutes, long enough for a few photos

Another attempt at a cat in hat photo.

I did have to try it myself.

Christmas Novelty Hat

This is a hat for Christmas only.

A basic beanie with a pompom on top

Patterned like a Santa costume.

Then for added jollity, a white fleece beard mask hung from the front.

I was given this as Christmas gift and will wear it, also will make my Facebook avatar for this December.

The beard is detachable held in place with a couple of press-studs and in my opinion looks better without it, although that is probably not the point of this hat.

Novelty Police Helmet

Unlike the previous post, this is not a genuine police helmet.

A novelty helmet for a fancy dress made from that compressed paper mache felt substance that make the basic structure for a lot of novelty hats.

The size is also smaller than the real thing making it look almost comedic on my head.

This one does have a badge though.

Not a Octopus Hat

This hat was described as Octopus hat however the seller cannot count as it only has 6 legs, so should really be Hextopus Hat.

Found in the £5 squid bin at the TORM the original reenactors market

The seller apparently thought it was hat they would never sell, been on their stall for a long time.

Basically looks like they cut up a wide-brimmed felt hat for some reason.

To make a hat that fits into no particular bracket.

Not sure what sort of idiot would buy this hat.... wait I did.

Mr Lemon

A Christmas gift, this beret is lemon themed.

Not only is the hat lemon coloured the pip in the centre of the crown has been made to look like a green stalk.

Stalk

This will now become an upgrade to the costume of particular character who has progressed into various lemon-based products sales.

No need to say any more about berets as they have been covered in plenty of previous posts.

PS the lemon necklace was previous gift from the same person.
