Bobble Hat

I've had this factory knitted bobble hat a while but it remained tucked away in a drawer, I have plenty of hats but my woollen beanie hat of choice remains one hand knitted (see here) for me not only because of the personal effort but it's much more comfortable to wear. 

Today I have taken the hat out the drawer and as the late February cold snap hits the UK I intend to wear it at least once while scraping frost off the car windscreen.

Union Jack fact - the Jack is small flag flown from bow of ships, the union jack flag was originally called the Flag of Britain which represented the union of England, Scotland and Ireland in 1606, but possibly because it was initially only flown by the British navy as the small flag on the bow the nickname stuck when it was eventually adopted by land forces and as a national emblem.

Ransom Beanie

The Beanie hat, a brimless cloth hat.

This beanie was a give-away at film fair, I'm guessing around 1996 since that was when the film was released. 

I use the hat as a general purpose hat that I keep at the ready in my winter coat for when the going gets bitter cold, like this week.

Stocking Cap

This is what I call a sock hat although its not made of socks, perhaps its made like socks, better known as knitted bobble hat or stocking cap.

On the day of purchase complete with label still attached, a friend took photos so I could see if I liked it before I handed over the cash.

In my opinion all good pirates crew need a sock hat and this was purchased with that idea in mind as in the photo below.

This hat is possibly my most worn winter hat, its just comfortable.  This hat is very warm ideal winter wear while at the same time the lets your head breath so it does not feel sweaty. The only time it fails is in the wind which it offers no protection against, its also obviously not water proof.
