Old White Hat

This a well battered white wool felt fedora.

The rolled-up brim makes it seem much shorter, so you could call a Trilby however that would be a mistake, Trilby are a subset of Fedoras and a should be a classy quality hat with a distinct look.

Maybe this once was a classy hat, maybe it is more Homburg.

But to battered to be a Homburg, also the crown does not seem tall enough.

I can't remember where this hat came from, but its been hanging around being crushed at the bottom a box and needs a use.

Story Tellers Hat

This hat is called a Kyrgyz and also known as the Ak Kalpak or White Kalpak, worn by people in central Asia

This is the national hat of Kyrgyzstan, Russian

Its also known by some as the storyteller's hat, it is mainly a hat worn by the nomadic men at festivals although for some in the region its everyday attire. This style hat is known only in Kyrgyzstan and Kazakhstan

Made of 4 padded panels of felt, this tall embroidered hat is supposed to resemble snow-covered mountains,

The 4 panels represent the four elements: air, water, fire, and earth. Where the panels meet represent the sun and life. There is also a tassel on the right part of the crossing which represents posterity and prosperity

One of the best things about this hat is it packs flat, the joints in the panels are butted together with no overlap so they fold easily

A hat to provide warmth in winter.

Domed green hat

This round felt hat was listed as a Monmouth style cap, but I don't think it is.

Monmouth caps while a similar shape are a knitted cap more like a small beanie that fits the dome of your head.

This I would say is just a medieval domed cap.

Minstrels Hat

This Robinhood style felt hat as been upgraded

The hat itself was originally posted here in 2015

But has been decorated with scrolls to sewn to the brim for the part of a minstrel.

The additions really change the hat, its become more theatrical and less authentic.

The scrolls were varnished before rolling and tieing with ribbons, in the hope they may survive a bit of damp weather.

Floppy Felt Hat

This is a felt hat with an oversized brim.

Not really much more I can say about it.

I folded the front of the brim up to give the brim some support via the crease.

Uses

Useful to protect your shoulders from the sun.

You could fold the brim upfront and back so it meets in the middle forming a nice bicorne.

or fold in 3 making a an oversize tricorne.

Brown Felt Hat

This hat is the same hat as in my post one hat many styles but in brown not black.

The basic felt hat from Primark cost  £2 in their sale.

In this light drab brown it seems less elegant so more suitable for practical everyday use, perhaps a sun hat for a farmer

I'm seeing a grizzly, grumpy old man wearing it, hence to photos, but make your own look.

Time for a bit of gurning.

Not sure I would win a gurning competition, I think you need to lose all your teeth first.

Below what happens when the brown felt hat gets wet.

Preacher Hat

This style of hat is sold as a Priests, Preachers, Padres or Amish Hat.

A black felt round crown hat with a 4" wide brim slightly turned up and black ribbon hatband.

Associated with preachers in wild west movies

Most of the hats of this style on eBay you will find are cheap cardboard/permafelt designed solely for fancy dress, this one, however, is a proper quality felted hat.

Nothing wrong with a cheap hat by the way I buy them, they are useful for a quick Halloween outfit
