Engineers Leisure Cap

This leather oil-stained pillbox hat was found in a pile of bric-a-brac quite a few years ago

It makes a perfect hat for a dieselpunk or steampunk engineer.

Made of thin leather with a calico lining.

I think I need a few better photos wearing a nice distressed costume to go with the hat, however, I've been thinking that for 4 years, so its time to post these pictures rather than wait.

Work Hat

With 30 years working for the same company, I got a new company hat this week.

A good quality baseball cap in our company colours.

Pictures of me at work, or just after a presentation for 30 years which got me a couple cards, a present or 2, a nice letter from the big boss and a bunch of flowers.

Morion Helmet

The Morion helmet is from the 16th and 17th Centuries. Also known in England as the pikeman's pot.

The crest along the top is designed to strengthen the helmet, its normally open face and wide-brimmed and from periods when gunpowder weapons were coming into common use.

Later versions added cheek and neck guards to protect against sword swings at the head.

In England, it is associated with the New Model Army, one of the first professional militaries. It was worn mainly by pikemen, although unarmoured musketeers also adopted it.

It's also commonly associated with the Spanish Conquistadors and the conquest of the Inca's by the Spanish.

As well as the exploration of much of America's, several were found in Jamestown

The morion is still used by some ceremonial military units such as the guards of the Vatican

This copy is a fibreglass so purely decorative and not suitable for battle reenactment, but good lrp and theatre.

This was a great Christmas gift from friends.

Brown Felt Hat

This hat is the same hat as in my post one hat many styles but in brown not black.

The basic felt hat from Primark cost  £2 in their sale.

In this light drab brown it seems less elegant so more suitable for practical everyday use, perhaps a sun hat for a farmer

I'm seeing a grizzly, grumpy old man wearing it, hence to photos, but make your own look.

Time for a bit of gurning.

Not sure I would win a gurning competition, I think you need to lose all your teeth first.

Below what happens when the brown felt hat gets wet.
